Your Body Mass Index or BMI is the calculation of your weight, divided by the square of your height. If you were to calculate your BMI by yourself, the formula would look like this:

BMI = (weight in pounds x 703) / (height in inches x height in inches).

This value is a standardized measurement medical professionals use to determine weight-related health risks.

What are the Four BMI Ranges?

  2. Overweight
  3. Obese
  4. Underweight

A normal BMI is between18.5 and 25; a person with a BMI between 25 and 30 is considered overweight, and a person with a BMI over 30 is considered obese. A person is considered underweight if the BMI is less than 18.5.
